As soon as I stepped out of the airport, all that I could see was an ocean of people. Looking beyond the people, I noticed the most fascinating place in the world, Beijing, China. I couldn’t wait to start my adventure. Beijing is a city of unique architecture, extraordinary culture, and vast history that everyone should visit! Beijing has many places to visit, including the ancient Forbidden City, the beautiful Summer Palace, the famous Great Wall, the historical Ming Tombs, and the Peking Opera.
The most astonishing, eye-catching architectural sights to see in Beijing are the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. As soon as you approach the Forbidden City, you notice the massive 32-foot high walls guarding the city and the emperor from unwanted …show more content…
The well-known Great Wall and the Ming Tombs are a fascinating way to learn more of China’s history. The 1,500 mile Great Wall took thousands of years and many generations to build. Built as a barrier, the wall protected the emperor’s kingdom from the invading Huns. The emperor used farm labor to build the wall varying the height and width with the terrain. If a worker died, his body was left to become interred as part of the wall (Chai and Chai 139). Another astonishing site to see is the Ming Tombs. You might ask, “Why would I want to go see tombs of people?” The Ming Tombs have sculptures created hundreds of years ago, including life-sized animals and guards. Constructed to hold everything the emperor would need in his afterlife, the tombs contained over 3,000 relics, including the emperor’s crown (“Thirteen Ming Tombs”). In all, you will discover the many wonders of Beijing.
Beijing, China is a great place to visit if you enjoy history and learning about their culture. It is a very historical and beautiful place because of its unique architecture, extraordinary culture, and vast history. Everyone should have a chance to enjoy Beijing at some point in their life. If you’re a world traveler or a homebody, you won’t regret traveling to Beijing. It might shock you how ancient some of their buildings and artifacts
