Food Bank Research Paper

After attending the food bank for my ten hours, I learned quite a bit about the certain people who use the food bank and how the food bank operates to take care of a public health issue. I also learned a ton about the majority of people who actually work at the food bank and why it is important for them as well. As the name portrays, the food bank assists in providing food to people with low incomes. Many of these people are actually mentally disabled or physically disabled. The food bank also assists with people who are struggling to make ends meet and have to provide for their family. To talk to many of these people, is rather eye-opening. For the most part, they are just normal people just trying to become self-sufficient. Unfortunately, I also ran into some who tried to take advantage of the food bank as well. For example, I had one customer who tried to take more of one type of item than allowed. Luckily, the customer eventually cooperated and was able to be go on with their day. Besides some of these outliers, most of the people were humble and respectful.
The other aspect I learned about was how it is run. At every branch of the food bank, whether it be sorting, storing, etc., there was always a supervisor present who kept the operation progressive and timely. At the food bank, …show more content…
As I have noticed more of them are either mentally disabled or are doing mandatory community service. Compared to my typical university environment, these people differed immensely in what they believe and their perceptions on life. They really helped me perceive the world in a much different way, especially from the ones who were doing their mandatory community service. They shared with me their experiences of running thin with the law and how their actions in the past have really influenced their present. It really makes me value the many privileges I take for granted every single
