I owe it to them and the Air Force to take everything I can from this NCOA course seriously and use it to develop the next generation. Based on the information provided to me from my self-assessment and peer feedback, there are two concepts that I need to address to make me a better leader. The two concepts are being a “follower” and “Transactional LeadershipManagement by Exception-Active (MBE-A). My peers assessed me at an 18.36 out of 25; where as I assessed myself at 21.61 out of 25. This is a -3.25 difference between how I thought I saw myself as a follower to what they see me as. This is a big issue to me because I …show more content…
So I went back through the section on followership to understand what I was missing. Being a good follower means being part of a team and supporting and being committed to that team leader. It means re-affirming the vision and motivation of that leader to my younger subordinates to ensure mission success. How my peers see me is important because I want them to know that even though I have my own opinion, what they value matters also. My plan for followership is to be more cognitive on my thought process and the way I react towards leaders and situations. When a decision is made even if I don’t agree with it I will ensure to show motivation and commitment to that leader to be that example of a good follower my subordinates. Just as good followership is important in the organization it is also important to be a good leader. However, I was scored on my self-assessment very poorly under Management under the Transactional Leadership section. Although, I scored well on Transformational Leadership
