It’s good to know who you want to be and who you are. While taking the FOCUS 2 assessment, a smile appeared on my face. I was reminded of the things I knew about myself already. Growing up, my father taught me to find a passion and make that into a career. I learned to develop a work ethic and use my skills to find my first Job at Panera Bread. There comes a point where age and independence takes over my mind as I was less privy to the words of my parents. During this time, personal accountability is now the driving factor of success.…

My life as a student and as a future UWS graduate with an Ed. D. and as a AASP certified sport psychology consultant is based on a strength-based approach with evidence-based resources to back my education, my expertise, my consulting, my self-reflection, and my self-assessments toward development and improvment of my strengths. According to Welfel (2016), “The best strategy is the development of a professional ethical identity through formal education and involvement in a graduate program that provides a culture of commitment to the ethical values of the profession.” I believe we, as a class, are living this strategy out and the foundation for our development is our commitment to ethical values.…
