Flux Pavilion Concert Essay

On April 14th, I attended a concert performed by Flux Pavilion in Washington, DC. Flux Pavilion is a soloist that plays as a DJ at many concerts. Most often his music would be considered Electronica or Dubstep. Some of the songs that he included in his performance were I Can’t Stop, Pull the Trigger, and Cut Me Out.
The people that attended the concert were very in tune with the music getting excited like the DJ jumping up and down and shouting. By the DJ getting excited about the music it made the attendees more excited about the music as well. Although the performance was very good for the genre of music because I am not a fan of this type of music I was not impressed. People that enjoy electronica music would have really enjoyed his performance but I most likely would not consider going to another concert like this concert. Throughout the concert, however, there were no noticeable mistakes that Flus

The only similarity that one may see from older music is the lack of many words. This could make it comparable to the Baroque period with some words but mostly unspoken music incorporated. Other than this similarity Flux Pavilion is very different from the genres that we have spoken about in class. For instance, in previous time periods composers would not even think of using an electronic sound for music nor did they have the technology to do so. Many of the songs that Flux Pavilion produces do not tell a relatable story but creates more of a party like atmosphere that people identify with. This would create a good environment for many people at the concert due to their love of parties and the similarities it showed to a party. The most memorable part of the concert was the atmosphere that I experienced rather than the music because it was like nothing I had experienced before. The theme that was introduced most was people partying and having

Case Study of a DJ: James Brown By Alvin Wilson Funky Drummer: There is a section where James Brown, the drummer and the sax come together in a beautiful and interesting manner. This portion of the song is from 3:38-3:56. It has that infectious riff. This portion when looped to create a chorus would surely get the crowd going incessantly. The beginning of the track which had the drummer hitting the rims (rim shot) with the electric guitar intro and the organ joining in later would make for a great intro to any song.…

Summer Twins Review: A Dreamy Dance Party Kicking off Valentine’s Day weekend with great music is not a bad way to dive into the holiday, for couples and singles alike. This last Friday, February 12, Summer Twins performed at Acerogami, Pomona, CA, joined by Veronica Bianqui. The entire event had a drinks-with-friends vibe, framed by the venue’s exposed brick, low lighting, projected music videos, and a few heart-shaped balloons at the stage. The beauty of smaller venues is the level of comfort they create. Conversation before and after the show flowed easily, from excitement about the performers to stray cats and operatic voicemails.…

Also, people could stand on the balconies on the top and watch the concert, which was interesting. Most of the audience seemed to be college students who knew the Cash Cash songs already, just as I did. Cash Cash is a group of DJs, so the three guys stood at the front of the stage and one of them did the music on the computer, while one of them did the music on the DJ board. It seemed like they were making the music as they were going along because they were listening to their headphones and planning the music on the computer and DJ board. The other one seemed to be the entertainer, so he walked around the stage and even came into the crowd.…

Music is an important part any country’s culture. It exemplifies the mood and feelings of the people of that time and is a representation of their experiences. As time flows on that music changes along with it, bringing new ideas and new songs to the stage. The music of the past slowly fades away as people forget it and stop paying homage to it. Conjunto Philadelphia is a band that wants to preserve the music of Pre-Revolutionary Cuba and make sure it isn’t forgotten.…

It was very soothing and relaxing to listen to. The music that the group produced was smooth throughout the concert. In the second song, the trumpet player used the technique of covering the hole of the trumpet where the sound comes out of with his hand and it made the trumpet sound similar to the trombone. The music was smooth and slow enough that one could move to it and follow along with it.…

The first real jazz concert that I saw was a Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola. Now this may not be one of the most ideal spots to listen to jazz but it’s still an experience I will never forget. I attended one of the late night sessions which began around 11pm. The featured musician that was going to play was Josh Bruneau. After some research I found that Josh Bruneau is a fairly new jazz musician.…

Walking into the auditorium, I immediately noticed that the atmosphere of the concert was completely different from that of the classical concert I attended weeks earlier. To begin with, it seemed like there was much more of an audience. Everyone seemed excited for the concert to start. As for myself, I was also excited because, on the very front of the program, it said that there was a guest artist that was going to perform with the ensemble. The performers wore more of a business casual look, some were a little more dressed up than others, but overall they looked very well dressed.…

Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…
