Flies more germ-laden than suspected

A group of scientist has recently discovered that flies carry more diseases than suspected. The Bristles in a fly’s body attracts the bacteria from where the flies have been. Flies are able to spread bacteria from place-to-place on their legs, feet, and its wings, experiments have shown. In fact, researchers have discovered that for every step taken with a fly it can transfer live bacteria from place-to-place. Many of the bacteria that flies carry are linked with human infections, which includes the stomach bug, blood poisoning, and pneumonia. There are other several more that we might not even know of as of right now. But, researchers are continuing to discover more about this study. So how are researchers collecting and finding out these studies? DNA sequencing techniques are being used to study the collection of microbes found in and on the bodies of the house fly (Musca domestica) and the blowfly (Chrysomya

So, what are microbes? Microbes are microorganisms, causing diseases or fermentation. House flies are very known well for their poor hygiene habits. Feeding on all sorts of decaying foods, animal corpses and other areas we can think of. Flies are a suspect of carrying a range of human, animal and plant diseases. But researchers are still researching the mysteries of flies and how flies can become the smallest insect on planet Earth to carry the most diseases. On the other hand, Blow flies are one of the most common flies found near or around dead animals. Blowflies are very common in urban areas and are often found near meat-processing plants, rubbish dumps, and slaughterhouses. C) The benefits of using fruit flies for our experiment are that they are small in size, and can easily be stored in a classroom setting in school. Statistically we know the flies live best in and around room temperature ,which is where we happened to store them. The traits were trying to spot were easy to identify, which allows us to create accurate data. Another reason that fruit flies worked well for this experiment is that they multiply quickly, so the lab didn’t take many months to finish.…

Bubonic plague, a deadly disease that is transported to humans through fleas, has been a worldwide issue from as far back as the year 1347 A.D. This disease has caused more than 200 million deaths since its first rampage in Europe. The bacteria Yersinia pestis has been researched to be the main cause of bubonic plague, but at one time there were many speculations as to the cause of this plague. Inspired by S. Scott and C. Duncan’s “Biology of plagues” and “Return of the Black Death”, George Christakos and Ricardo A. Olea believe that the bubonic plague is another deadly disease, such as Ebola or AIDS, which has the potential to thrive again and become resistant to the drugs that are used to treat said diseases. These authors say that most people believed that religion and sins along with God had something to do with the cause of the bubonic plague. They believed that if a person committed a sin that God would punish that person by infecting them with a deadly disease, such as the bubonic plague.…
