Introduction Many people that are looking to get into the healthcare line of work, should have a basic understanding of sociology. The reason for this study is because they will need to make sure that they have a basic understanding of the relationships that exist with humans and the many methods that social networks will affect the way that they interact. The purpose of this paper is to take a look at the many aspects that a healthcare worker may encounter within the healthcare world and have a better understanding of how these issues will affect them. To have an understanding of this topic, we will look briefly at the history of society and how social networks such as the family will have an impact later on in our life. Everything from our parents to our friends all have a large influence in who we are and how we will grow up and interact with others in our life. The basic values that we go into the world with will play a hand in how we interact with those around us. Our parents work hard to give us the sense of right and wrong and make sure that we are sent into the world with the needed social skills to be as effective as we can. The very definition of sociology is a study of society and the impact it has on our life. It has a scientific aspect in the fact that sociology uses scientific data that is the result of gathering the data and then analyzing it to prove a theory on the way people interact. Sociology has differently developed over the years as a result of the culture that it has existed in. From the time we are born all the way till our death, we are influenced by society and our roles will change as well. When we are children, we are taught all of the values and morals that we will need. When we attain adulthood, we begin to put these into use by interacting with those around us. A young woman will go on to become a mother herself and pass along the values that were instilled in her as a child. A young man will become a father and do the same.

Beyond the fact the five functions will influence our interpersonal relationships, it will also influence the very nature upon which we interact in our jobs. In regards to the healthcare industry, this means that social circles will influence the level of care that we are able to provide to a patient. Some people will say that the function of protecting and caring for the young is manifested in our desire to provide care to those that are injured or sick. Some people in the healthcare industry will see a patient that is ill as being their own child and will want to make sure that they are able to provide the best level of care to that
