Five Foundations Of Sustainability

Over the course of my four years studying at Santa Clara University, I have found that sustainability is a practice which is learned over time, and it takes effort. The triple bottom line is social, ecological, and financial and it emphasizes people, planet, and profit. As a finance and economics major, I found that economics and sustainability are relevant because of how sustainability helps not only the physical environment, but also the economic environment. In order to achieve the best results for this planet, one must be conscious in how they use their resources. When it comes to sustainability, the goal is to waste as little as possible.

BUSN 71, Foundations of Leadership, presents the five foundations of leadership, which are: model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart. A good exemplary leader separates from the rest of society because leadership in people leads to the one path toward making a difference to the rest of the population of humankind. It also encourages us, as humans, to consume only when necessary. For instance, the use of antibiotics has increased and they should only be used if necessary. A first action step that I would recommend in limiting consumption of antibiotics is finding ways to make clear to the public what the potential side effects of each antibiotic may include. This will make consumers more informed and aware, as well as discourage them from putting their interests at risk. During the most recent time I purchased a supplement online, I was unaware of its side effects until it was shipped and I read the label. A second action step would be for government to emphasize its food and farming standards, and to subsidize farmers solely for the purpose of using sustainable practices for the health of the
