Affordable health care is a huge problem facing the nation today. Health care should not be addressed as a privilege, but as a right. The United States Department of Health and Human Services has made it its mission to enhance and protect the health and well-being of all Americans. They provide effective health and human services while also making advancements in medicines, public health and social services. While these are great things for the organization to be doing, there should be some reform to the system of The U.S. Department of Health and Human services that ensures that all people, nationally, are provided with the affordable health care that they deserve.…
Stress have impact on all over our life, people handle stress differently. And symptoms of stress can vary and some people are better able to handle stress than others. The most common impacts of stress on the six dimensions of Wellness are: Environmental: - I don’t think that stress have much an impact on environment as the environment have on stress. Environment impact stress in a lot of ways for example when you have stress and then you see green trees and smell fresh air all this things help in decreasing stress but on the other hand when you see a polluted environment that increases your stress Physical impacts: - Low energy - muscular tension and pain - Headaches - Nervousness and shaking, ringing in the ear, cold or sweaty hands and…
The Wellness Fair: Reading Response I have decided to write about the wellness fair held on September 28 as opposed to the chapters of Just How Stupid Are We that are being forced upon us. Why did I formulate this decision, you ask? That happens to be simple.…
Lack of awareness, socio-cultural practices, low prices of tobacco due to tax exemption, and coping mechanisms to manage stressors are the challenges that Aboriginal people face contributing to widespread smoking behaviors (NCCAH, 2009). Research about the role of genetic factors in Canada is limited. The role of biological factors contributing to the prevalence of COPD and asthma are complex due to the interactions between biology, behaviors, and the environment (Dougherty & Fahy, 2009). Barriers to accessing health care services, and a lack of health education exist for Aboriginal people living on reserve (CRNHR, 2010). Remote locations, language barriers, cultural differences, and long wait lists for health services cause inequalities…
I chose to read the article written by the Mayo Clinic Staff which links social support to stress management. I think the article is useful for someone at any point in their life, whether high stress or low stress. It gives way that a person could create more friends so that person has people around when needed, or ways that a person could reduce stress through social interaction. The article explains that being close to other people gives a sense of belonging and worth. I think this is an excellent way to look at health from the biopsychosocial perspective, because it examines overall wellbeing before illness even begins.…
Childhood obesity is considered to be a medical condition that is the caused by extra fat in a child’s body, which may lead to chronic conditions (Mahmood, 2015). It can be detected in children by taking a on measure of their body mass index (BMI) based on age and gender (Mahmood, 2015). The condition has become much more prevalent in children in recent decades and has been acknowledged as a global epidemic that may affect them into their adult life (Clus et al, 2014). The causes of obesity in children involve many factors, which include environmental and genetic factors, as well as developmental influences (Kar, 2014). Integrative medicine is the new buzz word for medical care that complements mainstream medical care. It addresses the emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and families when many mainstream Doctors are scratching their heads where to go next. It aims to provide information to patients about over the counter products and unproven medical treatments that may impact the disease process that they are facing. Health Promotion Assignment 1. Most people including Mrs.Black who suffer from functional incontinance are embarrassed and believe that incontinence is a normal part of aging unaware of treatment options (Potter & Perry, 5th edition). For example, completing a 24- 72 hour bladder diary which can show her when is the peak time of incontinence, and in turn will help her maintain a routine to promote normal voiding (Potter & Perry, 5th edition). Maintaining a routine of voiding every hour and after every meal might decrease her incontinence (Brunner & Suddarth, 2nd edition). “Patients with urinary incontinence often reduce fluid intake because they believe this will help keep them dry” (Potter & Perry, 5th edition, p. 1135).…

While my efforts surrounding my first goal of tracking my sleep were commendable, my efforts to eat healthier were wavering.
