What does it mean to “come of age”? When do we “come of age”? Furthermore, how do we Know if we’re of age? The First Part Last was a story out of chronological order in which the main character Bobby told us the moments of his life. Starting with him caring for feather alone, as well as explaining the story of Nia (his girlfriend) being pregnant up until the story's end. This story's main purpose being to describe how/when we come of age.

The brown brick wall from when bobby went out tagging was representing himself. He dropped feather off with his neighbor coco and having some extra time until school decided to spray paint a blank, alone, brown wall. This wall was a symbol of himself as this wall was all alone, supported nothing, new, and blank. The reason this symbol was important was for the fact it showed us how He felt as those descriptions were his own. Thus proving the wall to be an important symbol in the book “The First Part Last”

Around the time this symbol showed he was living like he hadn’t done in a long while, such as eating sugar filled doughnuts, taking time in his life, and doing graffiti. Ghosts are unlike us they’re around, but not with us, not like us, and aren’t themselves either, so when bobby painted himself as a ghost he was different he wasn’t the him he knew. This shows importance as he knows that he has changed, but is a ghost as he clings to the past life even as he lives a new one. Ergo the ghost boy on the wall was an important representation of
