The first 12 weeks of your pregnancy make up your first trimester. It starts from the first day of your last period and it is the time when your body gets used to growing a child in your womb and is adjusting to hormonal changes.

You may experience some of the best times of your life or you could spend your days dealing with morning sickness. Here’s the inside scoop on what you’re most likely to experience in those first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Breast Tenderness
The first thing you notice after a few weeks of pregnancy is your breasts becoming larger and more tender. You may notice a slight tightness in your bra, this is your body preparing your breasts to feed your baby.

Cravings and Aversions
Soon after your baby is conceived, your body will start telling you to eat more with intense food cravings. Over 50% of pregnant woman have food cravings so give in to your cravings as long as you are

You may find the smell of regular household things repulsive and you may start to hate food that you used to love.

Fatigue
Your baby develops fastest in the first trimester. As your body sends nutrients to your baby, you’ll get tired easily. Stock up on foods rich in iron as both you and your baby require this in large amounts. Find ways to relax throughout the day and don’t ignore a strong urge to sleep.

Bleeding and Discharge
Early in your pregnancy, it’s normal to see light spotting when the fertilised embryo implants the uterus as well as light milky discharge. If the discharge happens to be foul-smelling or the bleeding is accompanied by pain, go see a doctor.

Frequent Urination
As the weeks go by and your baby starts to grow, your uterus expands to the point where it pushes down on your bladder making you more want to urinate more often. It can be frustrating to have to visit the bathroom all the time but continue to drink a lot of water. It is healthy for you and your baby.
