Firefly: The Best of both Worlds Popular culture introduces individuals to communities, heck it helps create communities. Think about the TV shows and the bands you like, you are drawn to others who also enjoy those things, right? Just like fables and fairytales, shows like Firefly, the Simpsons, Parks and Rec, or Avatar bring people together through common interests and viewings. TV shows and movies have created huge communities around them and have given people who are literally across the world a way to connect and engage with each other. And if that’s not beautiful then I don’t know what is! A perfect example of a TV show that has brought millions of people together is the show Firefly. Firefly is a beautifully balanced TV show that consists of your classic cowboy/western story and your thrilling sifi fantasy! Separately, both western and sifi stories contain similar life lessons and themes and explore extreme environments. It fallows the crew of the spaceship Serenity in about the year 2486. The captain of the ship is Malcolm Reynolds, or Mal as most of his crew calls him. He is your classic cowboy with a futuristic edge. He carries a civil war era style gun and dresses in a brown coat that happens to be symbolic of how he fought against the Alliance (the supergovenment that now rules the galaxy).
