On December 11, Detroit Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford got injured during a game against the Chicago Bears. Stafford suffered ligament damage as well as dislocation of his middle finger on his throwing hand. Currently, the team is focusing on non-surgical treatments, which will allow Stafford to continue to play for the remainder of the season. Non-surgical treatments could include having Stafford wear a glove or soft splint to stabilize the finger, especially during games.

Despite Stafford's injury, the Lions won their game against the Bears 20-17. Unfortunately, his injury could impact his grip on the ball as well as his throwing power for the rest of the season. Stafford will have to adjust to wearing something on his hand while he throws.

How soon Stafford will be able to rest his finger will depend upon how his team plays during the remainder of their regular season games.

A qualified doctor can help you know how long you will need to wear the splint as well as what exercises are best for your specific injury.

Unfortunately, sometimes surgery is required for finger injuries. Damage to ligaments, tendon tears, or large fractures may require surgery. Injuries that do not respond to splinting may also need to be treated with surgery. Post-surgery, the injured area will likely be placed in a splint to ensure proper
