Improved Essays
Summary:
Starting a new lesson unit this week, we will begin to explore about the idea of how food is process and about our favorite types of food we personally enjoy. We will learn our new high frequency word “y” (and). In whole group we will use the Promethean board where I will model for them the writing sample they will need to do in their personal journals. I will ask what goes on top (date), what goes next (sentence), and then their picture. Each student will have 20 minutes to complete this assignment during which if a student finishes before the time is up they will have time to play.

Another strength was that I model for the students how how their writing and drawing should like in their own individual journal. In doing this modeling helps the student have a clear a better understanding on what they should be doing in their own journal. Talking and observing my students, I have notice the several of them have some type of difficulty writing the sentence the should be working on. Several of the students don’t start their sentence right next to the red line, might make their words biger than necessary needed, and students tend to write one idea but draw another one. I would not come them weakness in the lesson plan but rather changes or suggestions to improve for next time. One of the considerations would be by having the students read or repead all the fruit words listed on the white board this is to reinforce the knowledge being learn (vocabulary). Second, it would be a good idea to have visual aids to help students better understand the concept we are trying to learn. Lastly, to have my writing or the writing example I am doing with the students be large enough for all students to visualy see it. This is highly important because it would help students to see my example and will not distract other students by getting up to see what is on the board. In my methods class we talk and read articles about the importance of using useful technology resources to enhance students

The Standards Key themes prevalent in the InTASC standards are requiring teachers to diversify their teaching to the needs of their students, maintaining professionalism, knowing the material to stimulate learning through real-life examples, and modeling collaboration. As I started my journey at Cal Baptist University in the fall of 2014 I was excited to start working on a degree that would help me accomplish what I wanted to do in the future, my counselor had registered me for my first classes with the early childhood program. I can still remember the day that I first went to orientation for a transfer students, since I had previously went to a community college I was able to get most of my general education classes out of the way and start to focus on the core classes of my degree. As I walked on campus with my mom I felt very welcomed and was able to truly feel like I belonged at the school. As I walked around the campus with my counselor for a tour I could feel that Spiritual feeling that I have been longing to have. It was almost as if I was in the right place…

Mentor texts provide an opportunity for you to use children’s literature to provide a model for good writing and genre studies. Mentor texts are pieces of literature that can be examined and used for explicit teaching to show young writers how to shape meaning in the writing process. Through Mentor texts, you have the opportunity to “show” not just “tell” children what quality writing looks and sounds like by reading authentic literature. When writers learn to listen to a story, they approach writing with a different lens that elevates expectations. Because the children are familiar with the story line of a mentor text, each time you revisit the text you can focus in on one aspect or one linguistic component of the text, instead of rereading…

I also plan to continue asking the teachers I am placed with what suggestions they would have. Another weakness of mine is I tend to move too quickly through my lesson plan. I need to be able to really drive an idea home once I notice that my students are understanding the concept. It isn’t enough for them just to understand; I need to work beyond this and get them to fully grasp it with additional problems that are not included in my lesson plan. This is something that I haven’t quite learned yet but definitely need to learn.…

Strengths 1. Organization/Planning I must say that one of my strengths is organization and planning for the classroom. One of my biggest fears is to walk in a room blind and make an absolute fool of myself in front of twenty or more students During practicum, I spent days planning a lesson and giving myself additional background information that I could on the topic of my lesson. I tended to plan my lessons with the use of multiple outside resources.…
