A psychologist, Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is shot in his home by an ex-patient that he couldn’t help. The ex-patient then shoots and kills himself. In one particular scene, his teacher, Mr. Stanley Cunningham (Bruce Norris) asked “Can anyone guess what this building was used for a hundred years ago?”(The Sixth Sense). When he called on Cole, Cole’s response was “they used to hang people here”(The Sixth Sense). Even though everyone thought he was insane because of his answer we see that he really isn’t because in a later scene, we see 3 bodies hanging in the school. Malcolm has taken on the task of helping the boy, for Cole seems to be calling for help, as we see in one of the scenes he knows Latin “from out of the depths I cry into you, Oh Lord!”(The Sixth Sense). Malcolm doesn’t seem to believe that Cole can actually see ghosts, but he figures if he can help him then he will. Cole can tell that he isn’t the only one suffering and that Malcolm is suffering as well. Malcolm’s wife won’t talk to him, so his marriage is falling apart. His wife doesn’t even seem to hear him when he tries to talk to her. Cole and Malcolm are both falling apart and they have nothing left to hold onto and nothing left to help them but each
