F*ck tha Police is a single that critiques law-enforcement by showing the police as a mockery. The song protests, police brutality and racial profiling (Imdb, Straight Outta Compton). From the beginning of the group’s career together, they provided controversial music that relies on the police. On their tour in Detroit, the group received a notification from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s saying that if they were to play the song “F*ck tha Police” they would be punished by the law, which is contradicting the First Amendment. One of the FBI’s statements was that this song should not be played because of the way the song highlights that it’s “Advocating violence and assault.” NWA acknowledged this threat, but did not follow through and ended up playing the song anyway during the concert. In the result of this song, the crowd went into a frenzy. There was police enforcement in the crowd and after the song was over you could hear an explosion of gunshots and the policeman then rush the stage.
