2) This movie was placed in a setting that took place only 50 years ago. To think of how much has changed in that half of a century is remarkable. Our American civilization has benefited because of the civil rights movement, which has brought us to where we are today. Thankfully, we no longer see this kind of discrimination in sports.
3) Glory Road was such an important story to tell, because it gives a reminder that giving people a chance to succeed, even when they’re not expected to, is necessary for excellence. Whenever the new players arrived in El Paso, they did not have a great first meeting with the new players, who happened to be white. Whenever the players began to practice for Coach Haskins, Haskins wanted them to change the way they played the game so that they play the way the game had always been played. The players knew this was not the normal way the game was played, but this was the way they played their game. After a while, Coach Haskins began to understand that was how they played. An agreement between the players and coaches was beneficial to the team. Barriers outside of the game were the hate crimes. Because a top tier team, who was predominantly African-American, was taking the country by storm. Players were being assaulted, being degraded, and having their stuff
