I am still unsure of exactly what I want to do. This assignment helped me out with that decision. It forced me to take a more in-depth look into the professions I was thinking about entering. When we think about what we want to do with our lives we don’t always look truly into the specifics of it, but rather how we think it will impact our lives. Before this project, all I knew for certain was that whatever I would do with my life it would be people oriented. The next step was figuring out whom to interview. My mother is also a social worker and that gave me an inside perspective. Growing up, I was able to see into the world of a social worker not just at work, but how it affects the rest of their lives. That is what showed me that being a Social Worker is not just the usual you clock in clock out job, but that there is more incorporated in the duties of someone who holds this position. What drew me in was listening to my mom talking about one of her children’s accomplishments. I could see the pride in her eye as if it was me that did something good. That moment I realized why she does it. I understood that despite the horror stories that happen in this profession and all the hard times it was all worth it. That selfless joy in her eye I decided I wanted to feel that and possibly give that to someone
