Ferdinand Magellan was one of the top 20 European explorers. Magellan went on pretty cool adventures. He also saw some crazy animals and fish. The things that Ferdinand discovered are very important. I have learned some weird stuff about Magellan and his family, adventures, and the crazy animals that he saw.
Ferdinand had five siblings, two sisters and three brothers. His brothers were Diogo de Sousa, Aires de Magalhães, and Duarte de Sousa. His sisters names are Isabel de Magalhães and Genebra de Magalhães. His family was large compared today's families. He had two kids, both of them were boys. Their names were Carlos de Magalhães and Rodrigo de Magalhães.

In fact he was the very first person to cross the Pacific from Europe. He found the passage that he has been looking for since he left home. This passage was in South America.
Sadly Ferdinand Magellan died on 1521, April 27. Magellan died in Mactan, Philippines. He died because of a stab wound. Who or what hurt him? Nobody knows why they did this, but should have not done it. If he didn't die he could have figured out way more things.
