What is the rediscovery of child abuse and why is it important? Children were only granted the same legal status as domesticated animals in regard to protection against neglect or cruelty in the 19th century. It took from 1962 through 1976 for “battered child syndrome” to be entered into the medical profession. Apparently, the confidentiality agreement about medical history between doctors, police, etc. was stopping the medical and criminal agencies from exposing the children who had been beat.…
Sexual, Physical and Verbal abuse have devastating long-term effects on children and their development. Child abuse causes higher rates of depression, an increase in the likelihood of developing an addiction as well as negative socioeconomic consequences later in life. When a child has been abused, they tend to begin forming negative thought patterns, which, after many years will develop into mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. In addition to mental health problems, abuse survivors are at a higher risk than non-victims to develop addictions, due to chemical changes in the brain. Lastly, survivors have a lower socioeconomic standing, as the abused children have not had the support and encouragement of their parents.…
My reaction to the assigned article is one of confusion. I am not sure why we read the article. I believe that if I had more experience and more education then I would have been more interested in this article and its message. I am not sure the value of memories of childhood sexual trauma in general. I would imagine that after I get my MSW, I will understand how repressed memories fall into the therapy process.…

Introduction: I am writing my Decision-Making Report over the need of the importance in learning to be able see the early signs of neglected or abused and what do at a child care facility or in a school. My main audience is the State of Texas Education. The reason I will write to this group of audience is because every school, day care facility should know and understand why it’s important to know the symptoms and know what should be done if a child is being neglected or abuse. While convincing the State of Texas Education about the problem with neglect and abuse, I will also talk about 3 possibilities there are for addressing/solving this problem. Audience questions: Neglect and abuse is something that increases every day in life.…
Violence has been being used for centuries now and people are starting to believe that is the only way to be heard while others do it for fun. There is kids under the age of 14 picking up guns not knowing it is loaded or trying to follow a game they play and try to kill their enemies. Lately, there has been a lot of violence ranging from the age of 16-30. Not even to just to hurt enemies, there are young kids gangbanging and selling drugs. People are starting to kill each other over drugs, money, and because they are rivalries this is a shame kids can’t even walk the streets or be outside without parents thinking “is it safe for my child to be outside playing?”…

My passion involves working with marginalized children in a clinical setting. I have always felt passionate about working with children who come from diverse and complex backgrounds.…
Anytown’s Department of Job and Family Services recently implements a new policy regarding child endangerment. To most people you would think for anyone to be charged with child endangerment, it had to be a very serious matter. What most people don’t realize is child endangerment could be simply leaving your child unattended. Nevertheless, child endangerment occurs when a person engages in conduct that places a child in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment. I believe if a household has one or more documented offense that could put the child in a compromising position.…
