Fear The Wind Quotes

Characters: My first folktale is “Fearing The Wind.” It has multiple characters, which includes: Buddha, elephant, local people, king, elephant trainers. The main character is the elephant. Buddha is the hero I know because he helps the elephant overcome her fear. The king is the villain, with elephant trainers as his sidekicks. I know that the king is the villain because the folktale states, “The king wanted to be sure that the elephant would obey his every command, so when the elephant didn’t do what the trainers told her to do – and often she couldn’t understand what they were asking – they jabbed her with their training sticks. Soon red, blue, and purple bruises broke out all over her beautiful white skin, and she was constantly terrified.” …show more content…
In Fearing The Wind, I believe that the moral of the story is about how you can reach enlightenment, even after a traumatic experience.

Personification: Personification is the action of giving a non human subject human characteristics. Fearing The Wind doesn’t contain much personification. However, there are tidbits of personification. For example, “One day the elephant went crazy with fear.”
The previous statement was from “Fearing The Wind,” and it is giving personification to the elephant, when it states that the elephant went crazy with fear. “This tree had a smooth, thick trunk and a big, sheltering crown of leaves where the wind would gently whisper, this sentence gives human characteristics to the wind, as it says that the wind would gently whisper. The last personification within Fearing The Wind, is when the tree is given human characteristics and is supposed to be the

First, let’s talk about the setting. “The Harper in Fairyland” takes place at a palace and gradually transforms to the Fairy Folk castle. Though the story never gave a specific date, I inferred that during the story it was daytime, which I noted from the following claim, “They would spread a blanket to sit upon, lean against a tree and eat their mid-day meal.” The text clearly stated that the weather was sunny and fair. The social conditions strived a bit in this folktale. Casual wear and mannerism was definitely from the early years when the peasants dressed like peasants, and the kings dressed like kings. The lower class people such as peasants and servants, listened to higher class people like a king or queen. For the finale of the setting I’ll describe to you how the mood was. The mood is usually based on the beginning of the story, and at the beginning of “The Harper in Fairyland,” the mood was lovely, since the story was describing the daily ritual the king and queen did, which they dearly enjoyed.

Anyway, let’s start with the introduction of the story. In the introduction, the daily routine of the main character and his characteristics were brought to life. The rising action is when the queen is kidnapped by the Fairy Folk. Then the King sets out to rescue his Queen, and when he spots the Fairy Folk that is the climax. When the Queen is freed, you would

In the novel, Something Wicked this way comes, Jim and Will both show courageous acts, however the terms of courage differ. One moment when Will shows courage is when he confronts the Dust Witch. When the Dust Witch came in the balloon, Will decides to fight back with his archery kit instead of hiding. Even when the Bow shattered into pieces he “drew back and with all his strength threw the arrowhead” (p.151). Towards the end of the novel, Will continues to show courage.…

Ambrose Redmoon once said, “Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the judgment that something is more important than fear.” This quote is expressing that courage is not the lack of fear; it is the triumph over it. A courageous person is not one who has no fear or worries. It is one who has fear but preserves through any situation instead of backing down. To Kill A mockingbird expresses that courage is an emotion that makes people push to go beyond their normal actions and strive for what they believe is right.…

An example of this would be “The Black City to the north lay steeped in smoke and garbage, but here in the White City of the fair visitors found clean public bathrooms, pure water, an ambulance service, electric streetlights, and a sewage-processing system that yielded acres of manure for farmers” (247). Larson uses the word “yielded” to describe the “action” of the sewage-processing system. The sewage-processing system is in the mystical and awesomely constructed white city that Larson describes so beautifully and makes it seem so amazing that it has human-like qualities that make it above most everything else. Another descriptive use of personification that Larson uses is “Trains bearing fangs of ice tore through the crossing at Wallace” (147). This section describes a train in wintertime.…

For a long time people have been using fairytales to teach valuable life lessons. Naturally there are many different accounts of each fairytale, but the majority of people usually divide them between the traditional and modern versions. Referring to the traditional often means the harsh lesson connected to the works by The Brothers Grimm while modern refers to the happy animated Disney interpretations. Looking past the differences in how The Brothers Grimm and Disney like to mood their stories they both share the similar themes of what jealousy and cruel acts can lead to, the envy of the evil Queen in Snow White, the rage and vanity of Gothel in Rapunzel, and the greed of Cinderella’s stepmother and sisters; however, there seems to be a controversy…

Many fairy tales have similar and different storylines and themes. Analyzing Brothers Grimm’s Cinderella and Joseph Jacobs’ Catskin with the Propp’s Thirty-One Functions, the Cinderella and Catskin tales are versions of the same tale for they have similar story attributes and themes even though they do not share every function on the Propp’s list. In both tales, a female hero who has a father works as a kitchen maid and is constantly harassed and ridiculed by a maternal figure. In Cinderella, Cinderella is harassed by her stepmother who makes her pick “bowls of lentils out of the ashes only” only to tell her that she cannot go to the festival with them.…
