The first tool I chose for the Riverez family would be a Genogram. According to Genogram.org a genogram is a useful way to map relationships and family patterns for at least three generations. Family therapist use genograms to map relationships. They help them to guide the client into the right direction. This tool can help resolve conflicts between family members. This tool can also aid a family into better open communication by understanding the conflicts. There are many issues that the Riverez family suffers from each day. The connection was made with Quianna and Julio and their issues and both Quianna, Julio and their conflict amongst their extended family members. Quianna and Julio also have relationship issues with their oldest son Rico. Rico has been acting out due to the situation by choosing the wrong peers and having run-ins with law enforcement in their community. I think the family needs to come together as a stronger unit. They would definitely benefit from family therapy. The Riverez family needs to make an attempt to reach a stronger connection with outside family members. Quianna and Julio need couples counseling and also counseling independently to work on separate issues. Systemic Analysis of the Community The tool that I chose to use for this part of the analysis is an ecomap. According to strongbonds.jss.org an ecomap is a useful tool to use as an assessment for family, social, and community relationships. An ecomap helps to find the positive contributions the family has made to the community and identify gaps within the community where the family could receive
