Family Identity Research Paper

Being apart of a large family means that there are numerous voices and personalities being expressed, especially when we’re excited or generally feeling any emotions. In all the chaos that is a big tight knit family, the individual tends to get lost or at the very least misplaced. At 16 years old I realized that I'm not any single one of my siblings, or even a compilation of all of them, I am simply me. When I was born I was the fifth child of six, I was the fourth girl and not anything new. I also had an older brother and later on I had a little sister, so there were plenty of us to go around. That meant that I had a lot of shoes to fill (literally considering I was wearing all their hand-me-down shoes). As I grew up, the family dynamic was always changing; some of us were little, some of us were older, some of us were graduating kindergarten, and some of us were graduating high school. In all the chaos of living we relied on each other for support in all manner of things. We grew up sharing ideas, playing games, and helping each other out. I relied a lot on there opinions and beliefs, so I ended up choosing classes that they had taken. I took an art class, a Spanish class, and a computer programming class (one sibling is a artist, the other is a computer programmer and all of them took Spanish). I was so excited to finally be choosing things I enjoyed, or at least I thought I would enjoy. By mid-semester I was hating all three classes and not doing very well in them.
