Torts are civil law suits; we differ between four torts of privacy. False light describes the act of making a person seem in the public eye like somebody they are not. You can do that by giving out false information about this person for example. There are several states that don’t allow false light suits, simply because they are hard to prove. Appropriation is another tort of privacy and describes the use of a person’s name to advertise something, without having the person’s permission. That often times happens to popular people, other people use their name to advertise their products. As if this honor wouldn’t be more than enough, she is also a two-time recipient of the UMaine School of Biology and Ecology Book award for the highest GPA in her class and received the “M” Club Dean Smith Award, that not only is another proof of her outstanding performances on the court and in the class room, but also stands for exemplary community service. She was a two-time finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-State Good Works team for her significant impact in the community. Wood is the co-president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, which works to give students a voice on campus as well as promote their community service involvement. Some of the community service, Wood was involved in were ‘You can Play’, ‘Dodge for a Cause’, ‘Toys for Tots’, ‘Reading in Elementary Schools’ and ‘The Ronald McDonald House’. You can’t talk about athletics and community service at the University of Maine, without mentioning the name Elizabeth Wood. There doesn’t seem to be anything she is not good in or that she can’t do.
