For paper number two I’ve decided to go with the reputation mechanic in Fallout New Vegas. So what is the reputation mechanic? The reputation in Fallout New Vegas is a measurement of how the different factions in the game world or Mojave Wasteland perceive your character. It is affected by positive and negative actions that affect the faction in question, such as completing quests or killing members, of that faction. Reputation is separated into two categories: Fame and Infamy. Fame is positive and infamy is negative. Both types of reputation are tracked separately, the combination of which determines your reputation with any given faction. The benefits and drawbacks of any given reputation depend on the faction itself. So for example, you …show more content…
The factions of New Vegas are divided into four groups. The first group is the major factions of New Vegas, which are the New California Republic (NCR), Caesar’s Legion, Robert House, and Yes man (which is the only independent option the player can take). The player will interact with these main factions for the majority of the game. There will be options to side with one of them or to go the independent route. The minor factions include the Boomers, The Brotherhood of Steal, The Followers of the Apocalypse, Great Khans, and the Enclave Remnants. These particular factions are designed to be recruited as allies for the player for the final battle of the Hoover Dam. The Strip factions are similar to the minor factions in regard to they can be recruited or eliminated. The Chairmen, Omertas, and White glove Society run casinos on the strip. The last category for this list are the other factions which are broke down into sub category’s that play a rather small role in the overall game play but can shape or break the players experience. The Merchant companies include: the Crimson Caravan, Van Graffs, Gun Runners, and the Happy trails Caravan Company. These Merchants can be found in one of the towns that have their own faction too. The town factions are Good spring, free side, Novac, Jacobs-town, and Primm. The last ones are the bullet stoppers as I like to call them, and they would be the Raider Gangs which are sub-category even more consisting of the Fiends, Jackals, Vipers, Scorpions, and three neutral gangs one found in free side called the Kings the second called the Westside Militia, and the powder gangers in one of the Vaults. These gangs can be annoying in the beginning of the game when the player is under developed but a lot of fun once you gain accuse to big

”If you see something, say something” (R. Green, 61). Americans had devised the catch phrase when they had approached a new level of vulnerability after the 9/11 offense. This quote resembles the immense impact that the 9/11 had in the United States. The new catch phrase resembles the shift in the way Americans lived their lives and how they saw things, promoting awareness. On September 11, 2001, Americans had experienced a devastating attack.…

One of the worst cases of failed reporting of mental health checks was the Virginia Tech Massacre, in April 2007, where a Virginia Tech student named Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and injured 17 others, then killed himself on the college campus in Blacksburg, Virginia (“Mental Health Reporting”). Cho bought a gun despite going through two background checks through licensed gun dealers and having a mental health history in the records that should have prevented him from receiving a gun. Although Virginia had some mental health check laws at the time, certain cases were masked from background checks. But, this is not the only instance, in fact, there have been 102 mass shootings in 2017 alone, from January 1st-April 18 (“Mission.”).…

Conspiracy theorists, calling themselves Truthers, have presented evidence to support their claims numerous times in attempts to convince the general population.…

Ever since the Sandy Hook shooting in late 2012, it has become glaringly apparent an alarming amount of the United States’ populace and lawmakers would sooner sacrifice the lives of children than ever dare consider the idea of constricting some of the freedom a gun carries. It might be a tad bit of an overgeneralization, and obviously very few would ever admit to believing they fall into that category, but the history of gun violence in the US shows the lack of attempts and resistance to improved weapon laws speaks louder than their words. Following the aforementioned shooting at Sandy Hook in 2012, there has been roughly 63 school shootings, give or take, ranging from only one being injured to over a dozen being murdered. After all these…
