Fallacy And Locus Of Control External Cartoon Analysis

Decent Essays
The two cartoons that chosen for my assignment are, planning fallacy and locus of control external. In the first cartoon, it is a woman speaking with two workers wanting know when their task will be completed. Nonetheless, both workers provide two different answers. This applies to planning fallacy because neither worker knows when exactly the task will be completed. In the second cartoon, it is a student who is blaming hers and the Professors zodiac sign on the reason why she failed her logic exam. This applies to locus of control external, because the student is not taking responsibility for her actions in to why she failed her logics exam. She is blaming other reasons for her not passing the

The images and words used in this logo enable consumers to understand the meaning; although, improvements can be made to ensure the message is conveyed effectively. The main elements of the logo; a carrot, the world, and text, keep it from being too complicated, however the simplicity almost hinders how well the message is expressed. Without reading into the logo too much, the reader can understand the main idea because of the simple design and layout. “Eating” means to eat fruit and vegetables, which links to the carrot on the side of the logo. “Globally” refers to the actual world, and links to the picture of the Earth at the top.…

The author of this political cartoon is David Horsey. He usually does political cartoons and for this specific one, he purposely chooses his audience that belong to everyday average parents, teachers, and gun loving patriots all the while persuading them of his opinion by using rhetorical words and images. The comic itself displays how he feels on gun control, and how little security the public is allowed to have for themselves whether it be concealed or otherwise. How the comic is formatted to look and the culture also greatly affect his work. The cartoon’s main figure ( Sarah Palin) also believes that gun control could easily leave millions of people defenceless in the U.S., which given with the several who seek to brutalize Americans such as Terrorists, crazed gun-men, and even random psychos .…

The article “Indoctrination U.? Faculty Ideology and Changes in Student Political Orientation (Excerpt)” by Mack D. Mariani and Gordon J. Hewitt discusses the article “Indoctrination U.” by David Horowitz and proceed to display their own findings of political indoctrination in universities. Mariani and Hewitt use very effective means to portray their argument and manage to do so in a seemingly unbiased way. The authors argue that little evidence shows faculty ideology affecting students and is presented in the way of high amounts of logos and ethos, in the absence of pathos. The levels of ethos, logos, and pathos within the article also help to develop tone.…

Rhetorical Analysis Paper At your petition, I have read and reviewed the article “Never Just Pictures” by Susan Bordo, to consider whether it would be fit to use it in The Shorthorn or not. After much thought and analysis I strongly suggest that it should be published in the The Shorthorn. Although the article is outdated and a bit rusty, it is still extremely relevant to the The Shorthorn audience. The author gives firm evidences by using the three rhetorical appeals, logos, ethos, and pathos.…

When an argument is made it is best to use a rhetorical situation and rhetorical appeals to effectively execute the point. A rhetorical situation provides the reader with all the information needed to infer insight on the discussion. A rhetorical appeal can persuade an audience into accepting a new opinion or at least consider it however, once an appeal is made by the rhetor it cannot be withdrawn. “Gun Smoke and Mirrors” is an option piece from The New York Times, a noted liberal newspaper. It discusses the increase in school shootings and the overwhelming need for better gun control in response to the recent Parkland County high school shooting.…

In the movie Rize, an escalation of positive impact to a battle of two distinct styles of dancing, takes over the inner city of Los Angeles known as Watts. “Tommy the Clown” implements a company, and later a style known as “clowning.” that is taken up by adults and children of all ages, backgrounds, and physical statuses within the community. Based on an analysis of such a plot, the title “Rize” could be inferred to rhetorically describe the movement that this ‘clown’ began, “rising” from a solo act at children’s birthday parties, to the most influential person within the city.…

On November 13th, 2015, everything changed in Paris. It started out as a typical Friday night, but ended with the death of around 130 individuals and injury of many more. Since then, news outlets, blogs, social media, etc. have continuously covered the events of that night. While the facts of the event are indisputable, the interpretation of those facts and communication of those facts remains in a state of constant debate. The rhetorical situation and response exemplifies the philosophical differences and debate between Bitzer and Vatz.…

I would say that I can be a person that does not like showing how I am feeling or what things are going through my mind. I would rather keep things to myself and not talk about my feelings. But when it comes to my boyfriend I seem to be able to tell him what exactly I am feeling or what what my emotions are very easily. There has been many times when we have gotten into arguments over the phone or through a text message, looking back at some of them they have been the dumbest things but at that moment we are so mad we just said whatever comes first to our minds. Which can result in us not talking to each other till the next day or until we feel bad for fighting with each other and one of us apologizes for what was said.…

Escalation occurs in decision-making when people must decide to further put money into something, or cut losses and move on when the writing is on the wall. There are three classes of explanation when it comes to escalation, and these classes are perceptual biases, judgmental biases, and impression management. Perceptual biases are basically what happen when we’re looking to validate previously made decisions, and causes us to look past information that would let us know our decisions or current objective is wrong. Judgmental biases occur when we take losses, but continue to keep our mindset towards just breaking even, basically saying the further back from breaking even we get the harder we drive to get back to the breakeven point. Impression…
