I expect to graduate in the spring of 2016. I am also currently serving as an…
College Drop Outs The experience of switching from high school to a college campus can be very overwhelming for many students in today’s society. A big question amongst many adults is why are some of these students deciding to drop out of college in their first few years? Moving to a four year college right away, instead of attending a community college, partying, feeling like no extra guidance is available, and employment issues all play a role in this.…
I withdrew from the University of Connecticut due to medical reasons. When I withdrew, I did not know what was causing my symptoms. The symptoms were, however, severely interfering with my ability to well in classes. I decided to withdraw from UCONN and focus my energies on addressing my health. Though I was extremely disappointed that my declining health forced me to leave UCONN, I knew I would not be able to do as well as I could, academically.…
I am looking to transfer yet again not because I consider myself a quitter, but because I have learned that college is a very influential, educational, and a very short, yet important time in your life. That having the opportunity to pursue a passion that you love while growing into an adult is a dream come true for any…
In the film Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, it has shown me how much young girls and women in worldwide are not getting the equal opportunities compared to men. As I was watching the film, many young girls are not getting educated due to their non-supportive environments where their family traditions are for women to be working for the family as they do not believe in women getting education, and as a girl they are to be married off to or sell their body to support family financially. Before I watched this film, I knew women in other countries did not get education because their family economic situations and unsupportive family for females in the household, but these ideas were just so normalized to…
I am requesting to be re-admitted into the University to finish my Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership. I did very well in my first class in the University and wish to finish my degree. Due to a training opportunity with my employer I was unable to complete more than one class resulting in me being released from the University. CSU-Global is an amazing University and I did very well in my first class and currently carry a 4.0 GPA at the University. After a medical issue I experienced, it became clear that my initial goals of being a Firefighter may be on hold and I need to finish my degree to open up new opportunities.…
In this chapter, the researcher will provide a detailed look at the literature and the theoretical framework starting with Tinto’s Model of Student Departure (1975). The framework will provide a better understanding of first year retention as it pertains to increasing student persistence within the first year of enrollment. The research will discuss topics ranging from examining community colleges retention, to the factors that affect student retention. Additionally, the literature review will explore the history of student retention while focusing on the programs colleges use in retaining students and building connection within the campus community. The literature review will address the transformation colleges make in order to assist students…
Dear Brandi, do you remember when you were sitting at work one day listening to Kristy tell you all about how she is attending Bethel University online, and loved it? Do you remember how she told you she only had one class to focus on, that lasted five weeks, or how she only had to turn in an assignment every Sunday and Wednesday night? It seemed so doable to you, and you knew that sounded like the absolute best option for you to improve your life, and not end up being stuck as a debt collector forever. Clearly you were right. You’re now starting on the last week of your first class, and you’ve done great so far!…
A week before this fall semester started, I was having a nervous breakdown. During this time I was already enroll in classes at ASU, full time and all online. In order to understand my dilemma, let it first be established that it is my personal belief that anything lower than a grade of B is unacceptable, and that is already a worst case scenario. Going full time every semester will be more difficult, but more beneficial than enrolling in anything less, because tuition stop at 7 credits, not including class fee per ASU policy. Since online classes are fairly new to me, enrolling full time at a university may just be pushing it.…
Over the course of my visits to Fall River I think that my capacity to observe my environment and the factories stayed consistent. I naturally pay attention to minute factors and functions of my surroundings which I think is why I tended to focus on the machines and the smaller aspects of the factory. I also tend to be more reserved in social situations which lends myself to not being as willing to approach people, particularly because of the language barriers we faced at both factories and that such a great number of the employees did not wish to participate in the project. I think that over the course of my visits I was able to conceptualize all of the small parts of the factories and understand how they work in unison but I was not able…
Coming from a low-income family I was hesitant to attend a UC due to the higher tuition rates than a CSU or community college. However, my application for UC's was a graduation requirement in my high school due to having a higher GPA than my peers so I submitted my application for UCSC without thinking I would get accepted or attend the university. Due to this, at the time, I failed to submit FAFSA on time for UCSC along with other documents that could help my application such as official SAT and ACT transcripts and passing AP testing scores. As the first of May approached, I was having a difficult time choosing what I would choose to do after high school. In these moments of hesitancy I discussed my situation with multiple trusted adults and…
After the first day of my shadow, I was surprised to find out that I was really not that excited about what I had experienced. Becoming a physical therapist was a goal I had set in stone so I thought maybe the first day was just an off day. For this reason, I returned and shadowed multiple days.…

Growing up I have always had a passion for planning. I used to play games with my younger sister where we would sit and draw up plans for how we would design our bedroom. Coordinating events with an emphasis in weddings has always been my dream job. Weddings mark an important stage in one’s lives. And I want to be the person people think, to make their magical day come to life.…
As shown in my essay, I’ve effectively strengthened my abilities from practically nonexistent to substantial. I’m not involved in any organizations on campus, but I genuinely wanted and still want to be a part of. I struggled with my first semester but was on track for my lowest grade to be a C in M212 with A’s and one B in other classes. ( I guarantee my honesty and hope that I am contacted to answer any questions.) I was confronted with significant personal problems and illness that led to missed quizzes and projects, low grades on tests, and poor attendance towards the end of the semester, this was the only reason for my inexcusable performance.…
