Parody is a work that ridicules usually popular works or films in a comical way. The short film created by Faden took snippets of Disney movies to explain copyright and fair use in a comical way. To make a parody they understand that you have to take parts of whatever work you are making into something else, but as long as you don't use too much, it's still fair use. Which is why fairy use tale is a form of fair use. Another factor that has to do with the purpose of the film as well is what it is being used for by other people and how that falls under fair use. Fair use laws cover works if they are used for educational purposes. The short film by Faden is mostly used to gain knowledge or educate people on fair use, copyright, and how to avoid copyright infringement. Now faden was somewhat making fun of disney films studios laws. In the essay “What’s Happened to Disney Films?” author John Evans states the concerns of parents with regards to Disney motion pictures and how they are not as child-friendly as they were in the 1960’s compared to the 1990’s. Evans focus on the issues brought about in these films ranging from the use of profanities to violence, which should not be in Disney films. I understand the logic behind the authors position, he believes that the content of Disney films has taken a turn for the worse. Firstly, the author states that Disney has become a conglomerate having many subsidiaries and that it has had troubling effects on what Disney considers child-friendly.…

I think the video, A Fair(y) Use Tale, is fair use and that Eric Faden is not infringing anything from Disney. The videos purpose was to teach others about fair use, using disney clips, and in the law of fair use it states that you can use it for criticism, parody, news reporting, and teaching. Which this video is following for education purposes. Although he is using clips from different disney movies and such, the clips are not too long to be considered copyright infringement. And he didn't use enough clips for it to be copying too.…

In his book A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court, Mark Twain parodies the bland narrative of classic medieval stories by allowing the protagonist Hank Morgan to get within breathing distance of literary tropes then turning them on their head resulting in an interesting tale of what would happen if the manager of a weapons factory got teleported to 7th Century Camelot. This is done by parodying the characterization the topics of the novel in a way that still keeps the reader coming back for more. Humor is significant throughout literature: it helps the author connect with the reader, it lightens the mood, it helps distinguish attitudes toward certain characters, and it keeps the characters realistic. Authors use varying methods to display humor throughout their writing, along with conveying a universal truth. Animal Farm is an allegorical fable written by George Orwell, which represents the Russian Revolution of 1917. In Animal Farm, animals overthrow their human farm owner, and seek to create a better world for themselves, without humans who “consume without producing”. But, one of the pigs gains an excess of power, and becomes a tyrant, leading the farm to the prior conditions with an animal as their new ruler.…

Title: Unreal Stories with Real Fun Once, an American daily paper feature writer, political observer, and humorist Molly Ivins said that parody is customarily the weapon of the feeble against the strong. May be she is right, but sometimes when engaging strengths of parody and innovation meet, it makes a dangerous mix. Many believe that and appreciate that too. This is obvious from the accomplishment of satirical sites, for example, The Oatmeal, The Onion and our own special Faking News, Unreal Times and News That Matters Not.…

For my transformative work, I took a poem and created a parody of it. The poem I chose to create a parody of was “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss. This original poem is for little kids, to educate and entertain them; what little kid doesn’t love a rhyming poem that makes them giggle a little? The original piece talks about green eggs and ham while my poem talks about Trump and Pence. With this as well, my character is Hence-I-Tense where the original character is Sam-I-Am.…

It is safe to say a majority of children’s childhood is centered around watching Disney movies, dreaming of the one day they will meet their prince charming and live happily ever after. As children you never notice the blatant gendered stereotyping or white superiority, now older and wiser it is clear. What children do not know is that these Disney stories are remakes that have been around for many years. Take the story of Cinderella, in the original story by the Grimm Brothers in Disney’s version they are ugly, in the Grimm version they are beautiful. They are portrayed as delicate and pretty, while in the movie they are not supposed to be pretty but her evil ugly stepsisters.…
