First, When Fadi’s family got discriminated for being Muslim after 9/11, it affected them because they we're still new to the country and it was already hard and now with it getting worse because of something that they didn't do (pg.188 ). The whole Muslim community got blamed for what happened that day, but in reality they had nothing to do with it; they actually left for that specific reason. This demonstrates how hard it was for them socially because they couldn't go anywhere without being called a “ Towel Head” or a “Terrorist” just because of the terrible things that radical Muslims did, not them. This has a resounding message of hatred because America didn't care at that point in time for human life all they cared about was revenge on some of the people that hurt their country. Finally, when the two men in the store we're fighting about if the Taliban and whether they we're good or there bad, this affected the family politically because it showed that some people the same as them believed differently and how people have different views.
