Articles of Confederation, had to be revamped to satisfy the people in their quest for freedom and self-governing. A democratic government has the responsibility to be responsive to its citizens, but every citizen must have equal opportunity to influence that government; the political parties are tasked with finding ways to get the citizens actively involved, which is a challenging task.

These days, too much is at stake in this new age of industrial growth, foreign policy, and the age of technology, for political issues to go on being handled by government alone without the input of the people. Today, there are too many important issues that our government must face and rely on the people to tell it the people’s will. It seems like the political parties have reached out to the public over issues related to personal responsibilities more so in the last 10 years than any other time in my past. Most of the input was usually requested from the Executive branch over war.
In these modern times, the parties want the people informed, involved, and unified. It has been my experience while in a social setting with members of opposed political affiliation, some party members from both sides feel that it is better to be involved than not, even if one’s political views do not match one of the opposed party.
