Facebook is used for communication with others using social media whether it’s work, school, events, or emergency related, it’s resourceful to the people on the site. People often wonder how private their post or message can be. Facebook has safety features such as selecting who can see the post, block people who someone may not want to see any of their posts, and one can make their account private so only their friends can see what they have posted. Facebook has these features to prevent an invasion of privacy and to protect the user’s rights. Some people may think social media sites are used to support criminal activity but in fact “67% of federal, state, and local law enforcement professionals surveyed think social media helps solve crimes more quickly.” (Are Social Networking Sites Good for our Society, Page 1). Social media sites such as Facebook can give information to law enforcement which helps them receive information such as identification or locations to events. Using this information can stop present, and prevent future criminal activity. Law enforcement using these sites would decrease criminal activity because people would be intimidated by the astonishing amount of personal information they can get their hands on. With law enforcement at every end of the spectrum criminals would feel as though there is no point because the cops would catch them anyways. Facebook increases the chances of students achieving higher grades. Facebook was designed to be used by university students living in the campus. “The explosive development of the software and hardware technology made it possible for today’s technology and services to be used in all areas of activity: education, research…” After George Middle School introduced their students to social media their grades went up by 50%. (Social Networking ProCon.org , Page 1). This proves social media improves students grades. Students can use social media to interact with others and find ways to improve their learning skills.
