Being a veteran means not only to serve in the military, but it means to have the selflessness and courage to go off to war to ensure the freedom of the nation. In America, we have the right to vote, work, drive and many more activities we can partake in and to this we owe our veterans. It’s because of them that I can walk freely; they inspire me. Throughout their days of duty, they were motivated to fight for their values. They act as a martyr for the country and that’s a job most people are far from willing to take.

As a volunteer I hope to develop skills that will help me become more well rounded, skills such as being humble, charitable, generous, involved, and selfness. In my community we have a lake, where students can volunteer on a monthly basis. I started volunteering at the lake when I was in sixth grade and continue to do so up until this day. I also enjoy volunteering to help the refugees who attend my church. My task is to help them learn how to use computers and write resumes in order to get jobs, but rather than doing it for the ‘recognition’ I use my free time to better the lives of others and that is enough of a reason for me to do it again and
