When a baby is growing, he or she is learning everything. They are learning about their senses, environment, and people around them. For young children, they are learning to play, interact and share with others. A young child learns the basic responsibilities to become a civilized human. What do you believe about learning environments for young children? State at least one theorist who supports your statement.
I believe the learning environments for young children is correlated to society’s norms and values. The world around an individual effects the child’s learning environment. One theorist that supports this idea is Vygotsky. Vygotsky is a constructivist who believes the social world will provide children the most input and guidance (Krogh & Morehouse 2014, p. 14). For instance, one of Vygotsky’s terminology was Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). ZPD is the zone where children learn with guidance from others. This is a time where a teacher (from the social world) influences a child’s learning.
