There are three different categories of intentional torts: torts against persons, torts against property, and torts against economic interests.
Torts against persons is an act to intentionally harm another person physically or mentally. Assault is one of those acts, which happens when one places fear upon another. The elements of assault needed to prove, would be immediate physical contact with the assailant, victim felt he/she was in imminent danger and the actions of the assailant were intentional. Assault is usually followed by battery, another act of intentional tort. Battery is when a person deliberately inflicts harm upon a person. Elements needed to prove battery are an act inflicting harm upon a person, intent to cause bodily
