It is important that we are aware and think of the principles and values such as the UNCRC when working with children along with The children's act 2004. The UNCRC focuses on the rights of the child and the children's act 2004 gives us clear guidelines of how social workers and other professionals are expected to deal with issues relating to children, practitioners must ensure that they promote equality, diversity and inclusion. Upon completing interview one and two, I surmise that interviewing is not as easy as it appears. Whether it be asking questions to a stranger, friend, or a family member, there are still levels of discomfort because my role changes. I am no longer their friend who can talk in a causal manner, I have to contemplate and decide what questions to ask and how to prevent boundary violations. With friends and family, I often do not perceive this and conversations are more lenient. It was difficult to provide reflection without sounding hypercritical or appearing apathetic.…
I believe education and culture could possibly be two of the biggest reasons for the very different views of the meaning of “inclusive education.” An educated person would view special education more differently than an uneducated person. At the same time, an educator with specialization in special education would still view issues in this field more differently than an educator without any specialization. Not everyone share the same cultural practices or experiences either, which is why there are different views on “inclusive education.” Everyone is defining the term in ways that make sense to them based on their experiences and knowledge.…
From new born to just 3 months old. A child of this age is constantly learning but their communication with adults is limited, having said this they will respond to adults especially their mothers face and voice. Thank you for your observations that the nursing profession is lacking in transpersonal caring for each other. In reflection, when working in a hospital, I found the work environment between colleagues’ relationships to be stressful, and at times toxic. And since I have been working as a nurse outside of the hospital system, I have discovered that similar behaviors exist in other work settings. The lecture by Dr. Jean Watson was beneficial for me; it revealed self – consciousness, not only what exists in our world, but how I can integrate my thinking and communication to promote health for others and myself. Interpersonal communication is the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. It is a person-to-person contact, it includes everyday exchange that may be formal or informal and can take place anywhere by means of words, sounds, facial expression, gestures and postures. Two significant learning points for me during this course was in module 3, using the I-language instead of you-language which gives power over our thoughts, feelings and emotions to others. Introduction During my children with exceptionalities class had Kendall college, I was able to get a glance at the different types of disabilities students have. Because of the field hours I had to complete, I had the opportunity to observe an inclusion, self-contained and resource classroom along with interviewing those teachers. While doing my observations I was able to observe a student with autism in a inclusion classroom and in a resource classroom. Interviewing with these teachers, gave me an understanding of what these teachers went through every day with their students with disabilities.…
