How does Macbeth change throughout the book?
Shakespeare wrote a lot of great plays during his time, some of his plays became so successful that they are still being discussed today. One of Shakespeare’s famous works, Macbeth gained its popularity due to its dark and wicked plot. The main character of this play Macbeth is introduced to the reader as an honest and brave warrior that respects and loves his country, but as the plot develops you could notice the major changes that Macbeth goes though. The characters such as Lady Macbeth and the witches fill his thoughts with guilt and paranoia, which later cause Macbeth to go insane.
Macbeth began as a loyal and well-respected man. In act 1 scene 2 captain describes Macbeth’s bravery by saying “For brave Macbeth (well he deserves that name), disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel, which smoked with bloody execution” these lines show how fearless he was at battle. Duncan then added “ O valiant cousin, worthy gentleman” meaning that Duncan believed that Macbeth is a valuable and worthy relative. Before his thoughts were filled with prophecies Macbeth was never vicious, but his thirst for power made him abandon his moral codes. Even though he clearly understands the right from wrong Macbeth chooses to do wrong without being able to justify himself. In spite of the fact that this play was introduced to the public in the 1600s it’s actions and key ideas could still be related to our modern world. The biggest lesson that could be learned after looking into this play would probably be that we never know a person’s true nature. Humans are such complex creatures that sometimes we don’t even realize our true power. In some cases such as Macbeth’s this true power should be feared because not everyone can tame
