There is no perspective that is more correct than the other, however, I prefer the approach where staff in patient care delivery specializes in particular skills, and perform similar activities in separate functional departments. When staff members in patient care delivery perform similar activities into different departments, it helps them improve their skills and perform their tasks more confidently and this in turn leads to better services and higher productivity. Multiskilled employees play a crucial role in healthcare delivery and their skills are best utilized when there is a unique situation that specialized staff cannot address. However, the broad range of skills may lead to internal competition and make some employees develop job insecurities. This may in turn lead to loss of focus and dissatisfaction at work.
Both perspectives can be incorporated in another creative work design as long as staff in the two approaches agree to work as a team. None of the staff members should feel like they have to give up their approach in patient care delivery because they all have a common goal, patient care delivery, and the only way this is can be achieved is by encouraging team
