Even though hair is pushed back, you can tell that it is long. Her expression is very loving and caring towards Jesus (as many artworks display her in this style). The young Jesus Christ lower half is covered by a blanket or a piece of Mary’s robe and you can see the outline shape of his foot. His top half is uncovered and he stretches out his right hand to touch his mother’s face in a loving, playful manner. He has short and curly hair and he has a resemblance of a young angel.…
“Invitation to a Murder” is a story in which Josh Pachter composes numerous situations of irony. Lawrence Branigan, Chief Inspector of the New York City Police Department, received and opened a letter that was sent to his apartment on 240 Centre Street. It was a stamped, formal message which stated that he was to arrive at 217A West 86th Street between the hours of nine thirty and eleven o’ clock. Branigan was disorderly as he looked over the invitation once more. Mrs. Abbott was the women that sent the letter; furthermore, Branigan recognized the name.…
The Killer Angels are historical fictional novels written by Michael Shaara based on the battle of the Gettysburg during the American civil war. The battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle in the American civil war, and it resulted in the death of over 50,000 men over a period of three days. The battle of Gettysburg has been hailed by historians as the turning point of the America’s civil war that culminated in the victory of the Union Army. Shaara developed the story in the novel from the letters, journal entries, and memoirs written by the soldiers who fought the battle. One unique feature of the novel is the use of real-life characters who took part in the war including General James Longstreet, General Robert Lee, and General Chamberlain.…
A lot of people want to blame the parents of the offenders, asking “what did you turn your child into?” 36% of serial killers were physically abused, 26% were sexually abused, and 50% were psychologically abused (Mitchell and Aamodt 45). Many people have logically come to the conclusion that just because someone is abused, it does not mean that they will become a serial killer; or even a murderer; which is true. In the general population (people who have never committed murder) only 6% are physically abused, 3% are sexually abused, and 2% are psychologically abused (Mitchell and Aamodt 45). The dramatic difference of abuse frequency between people who are serial killers and people who are not seems evident enough to support that serial killers are created.…
Andre Dubus “The Killings” and Todd Fields In the Bedroom present the theme of grief, revenge and how a good person can commit an evil act; through the different uses of characters, plot, and tone. There are very subtle changes between the story and the film adaption, with some parts of the film quoting the story word for word. While the director keeps the film in very close likeness to the story, there are subtle changes we can compare and contrast. Beginning with the characters, right away the narrator in the story introduces the grieving family of Frank Fowler. Matt and Ruth, the parents, and siblings Steve and Cathleen.…

Reflections of the Killer Angels In my readings of The Killer Angels, I came to love Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. His thoughts and actions I feel resemble what I would hope would be my actions in a war. He is forced to make some pretty clear moral decisions. He shows complete and utter loyalty to the Union and fights with bravery and courage the entirety of the Civil War.…
Everyone knows who they are, and the media is after them, led by Wayne Gale (Robert Downey Jr.), producer and conductor of the TV program American Maniacs, the young lovers become global superstars. Their notoriety is only increased by their capture by the police officer Jack Scagnetti (Tom Sizemore) and they end up at the hands of prison boss Dwight Mcluskey (Tommy Lee Jones) who is hungrier for media exposure, even more than they are. Wayne Gale makes a live interview to Mickey where he has a primetime moment when he explains that he is “natural born killer” because god made him that way leading the rest of the prisoners to a prison riot.…
You only get one shot at life so give it your best. The main character, who is unnamed, had the chance to kill a man, the man who would soon become his killer. If he had pounced upon the chance when he had it, he most likely wouldn't have been killed. In application to everyday life, it is seen that a person's first chance at something may, in fact, be his or her only chance. During an interview, a person has only that one chance to make a good impression on the interviewer.…

Judicial murder made by inequity legal system In the month after “Making a Murderer” premiered on Netflix, more than 129,000 Americans signed a petition to pardon Avery and Dassey for their convictions to the murder of Halbach and in the book ‘in cold blood’ written by Truman Capote, the two murderers were treated by ignoring the mental problem influence of theirs, they stayed in prison for five years and were finally performed death penalty. After reading the book and watching the TV show, I think these crimes sufficiently prove that there is a fundamental inequity at work in countless branches of legal system. Making a Murderer tells a story about the life of Steven Avery, who was convicted of rape in 1985 and imprisoned for 18 years, despite…
Thesis: Are we capable of self-destruction or is there a reason behind our self-destructive nature? In the film; From Hell, the transition of gothic elements are contained within the film and served as part of the plotline and evidence of this thesis. Throughout the film the notorious and mysterious butcher known only as Jack the ripper is claimed to have been an educated man who was believed to have suffered from an undetermined psychological issue that caused him to enact in murder, however, the true identity is never known. This makes it seem like the killer is almost mocking the old man, because the killer knows how he passed the night. This is a selfish scheme for the killer, proving him to be very cold and calculating. In conclusion, the killer is ultimately a character who is hard to decipher. His morals and outlook on what is happening are completely perverse.…
Have you ever heard a song that has impacted your life? Songs are a form of art that allows artists to express their feelings in a form of music. Songs can be interrupted in many ways; some songs have a more literal meaning, while other songs require you to interpret the lyrics to understand the deeper meaning. Artists often use figurative, metaphorical, and poetic elements in their songs to help develop the overall message. The use of figurative terms in a song leaves the interpretation of the song broad and allows the listener to have their own meaning of the song.…
