As far as good harvest, did they ever think that just taking care of their crops and farms the right way will be how you receive a good harvest. Sacrificing someone’s life will not bring you either of these things, because you are taking a way a life of an innocent person who was a part of a family who loved and cared for them. This human sacrifice has to be all psychological, you have to deeply believe that killing someone will bring you these things. But the ones who eject to this tradition are the ones who know that killing someone can never bring these things to them but have to carry on with the tradition because they know that if they do not then something serious will happen to them.
