I chose this to be the exposition because it gave insight to the trauma she has been through and how that affects her now. After facing the consequences, this made Hans feel so uneasy about Max hiding in their house, that he sent him away. I chose this as the rising action because it lead to Max leaving and getting caught, and Hans getting drafted to the military.
