Examples Of Raves And EDM Festivals

Decent Essays
Raves and EDM concerts are universal events. They are not specific to one city, country, or part of the world. Because of this, rave culture is something that brings together people of all ages, races, shapes, and sizes. In the article “The Best EDM Festivals” Jake Lauer lists festivals such as Tomorrowland located in Belgium, EDC in Las Vegas, and Creamfields located in the UK (Lauer, 2017, par. 4). These are just a few examples of places and large EDM concerts throughout the world that bring people together from the next town over or the opposite side of the Earth. Venues for raves can also be more local and come in smaller sizes. A great example right here located in downtown San Diego would be a nightclub called The Bassmnt. The owner of

On September 9th I attended a Phi Slam event called Kaleidoscopic Color-Dressed Chromatic Dance Fest. This was a social dance event that is completely dry and it is essentially a giant dance party. The guys in Phi Slam, which is a Christian organization that is similar to a fraternity but they do not do typical frat things such as drinking, hazing or smoking, set up the event. Phi Slam has events just like fraternities and sororities do. This event was just one of the many events they put on throughout the year.…

There were flashing lights, a DJ, people dancing and beach balls bouncing. The feeling in the air was electric! I was caught slightly off guard by how different this was from Michigan. I had never seen anything like this before. After a night of partying and beaches I was way to exhausted to do almost…

All the themes are over the top no matter if it is a big or small event. Ian described his favorite as a shape themed party called, “Shape-Shifting Blocktastic Blowout” with a DJ booth raised over twenty feet in the air. These events are done by the members, transforming their entire yard or a field into a wonderland made of anything from painted panels to pig pens to ice cream trucks. This well decorated atmosphere makes the attendees feel as though they are not in Athens anymore. Evan Arnold, another member I interviewed, also described why he loves Phi Slam most, “Whether its swing-dancing or raving, singing karaoke, or sliding down a huge slip n' slide, we seek to create environments in which people can have a really good time, and really be themselves.”…

For the reader, it is obvious that the people there, at least the girls, are literal aliens. Enn first described the music when entering the party as “a bit like a German electronic pop group called Kraftwerk, and a bit like [ …] the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.” When taking a listen to these musical groups one must admit that their sound is very like that of classic alien themed music, and almost arbitrary noises. In addition to this, Enn’s evident lack of awareness to what the girls are saying further creates…

The live music event I attended was a Flamenco music featured at a Pan-latin American restaurant here in Houston. The music was performed by Guillermo Serpas, a Nuevo Flamenco guitarist in Houston whose unique style combines a fusion of Spanish Guitar, Latin Jazz, and World Music. In this restaurant there are two main areas and the environment of each varies drastically. Inside if the restaurant you will find a bar and a very small stage, however this stage was not in use when I attended. And then outside of the restaurant on the patio you will find a much livelier seen where every Sunday the restaurant hosts a Pig roast which is very familiar to me coming from my Cuban culture.…

It talks about how it’s an “epidemic of drugs, dancing and general debauchery”. It features the music video by “D Mob - We call it Acieed!” and how the BBC banded it as they figure it as an advertisement for drugs and only fuelled the Acid House explosion. This association with drugs and dance music started in Ibiza, which was a common holiday destination for blue collar British vacationers (C2 on the demographic profile). They discovered the drug Ecstasy (MDMA) when clubbing out there and they noticed they would dance the night away and British DJ’s working in Ibiza brought it back with them and introduced it into the already flourishing disco scene.…

I went to the concert with my best friend; I could tell she was not excited as much as I was. At first, the crowd was only about 120 people, but as the main stage’s set progressed, and the more crowd-hyped bands played, the crowd got bigger. There were drunks, stoners, and shirtless men and girls everywhere and it was kind of disgusting. Managing through all of the nastiness, somehow my friend and I pushed our way through the smelly crowd.…
