Billy McMahon (Vince Vaughn) and Nick Campbell (Owen Wilson) are looking for jobs after losing their positions as salesmen when their employer falls out of business. Billy applies for an internship at Google for both of them, and they are accepted because of their “out of the box” interview answers, despite a lack of experience; they are the only interns not of traditional age.
They spend the summer competing in teams against other interns in a variety of tasks. Only members of the winning team will be guaranteed jobs at Google. When Billy is at a disadvantage during the technical support challenge he feels dejected and struggles to see the point in what he is doing and this prompts him to make the decision of leaving. Although it did take some help from Nick to get Billy back at Google, there was an internal change in Billy’s feelings towards his abilities and determination for the job. Through this it was made evident that Billy managed his internal conflict and was able to move forward with his team, ultimately to victory.

Ethics consists of acceptable standards of behavior and a person’s ability to maintain integrity in the workplace. Professionalism refers to the conduct, aims or qualities that characterise a person’s profession. (Brown, 2016)
There are different theoretical approaches to ethics including the Consequence-based, Narrative-based and Utilitarian theories which all involve different methods of determining or understanding the difference between what is right and wrong. Ethical issues include sexual harassment, conflict of interest, stealing from the company and insider trading to name a few. (NSC Business Studies, 2016)

Even though this experience did allow the team to bond and eventually come up with new ideas, the foundation of Nick and Billy’s actions was professionally incorrect. From an ethical perspective it was wrong of Nick and Billy to have taken a group of college kids out drinking as this can lead to dangerous behavior and dangerous consequences. From a professional point of view it was a very irresponsible decision seeing that the team was still taking part in the Google team challenges and had a current challenge to complete. This “night out” could have resulted in events that would have put the team in jeopardy and sacrificed the whole team’s shot at achieving the full-time employment positions at
