Examples Of Imaginative Journey In Star Wars

The film star wars episode IV and Paul Kelly’s from St. Kilda to kings cross are both perfect examples of imaginative, inner and physical journeys. A journey can involve many many different experiences for individuals which include emotional and physical changes. A imaginative journey takes us into unreal existence or different worlds. An emotional journey can be self exploration with the ultimate goal or consequence of knowing ones self better and physical journey can involve obstacles and movement to new places. Both texts should definitely be continued to be studied in the unit of journeys for the following years.

Luke’s imaginative journey takes him beyond the world of the moisture farm and to a world of the Jedi knights and adventure. In the dialogue “if theres a bright centre of the universe this is as far away from it”, it shows his contempt of where he is and his want to leave his life on the moisture farm. The use of tracking shots and point of view shots show the depth of space and that he is no longer on his home planet. The long shot of the pilot activating the hipper jump shows his moving further away from home and tracking shot tells us there traveling at high speeds. The extreme long shot of the planet with his home in the background shows that his on his physical journey and how far away from home he is. The stars rushing towards us indicates speed and the digetic music is used inside the narrative because it is apart of the narrative and shows its a celebration of victory.
