Every weekend, crowds of people attended his extravagant parties from all over the place. These uninvited guests came to party only to gain advantage but does not know anything about the host or Gatsby at all. In chapter three, Gatsby has invited Nick to come to his party and he quoted "I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby's house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited--they went there.” This talks about how people cared that he threw enormous parties and wanted to be a part of the crowd but not care for Gatsby’s existence.
