Coming from two religious backgrounds have been challenging to my faith as a Christian. My first fellowship was that of the Baptist faith. Later to be joined to the Pentecostal and Charismatic faith. I discovered a misleading since of contrast in both ecclesiastical backgrounds. There is a dissimilarity in approach, concept and exchange of concepts amongst the two denominations. Churches are divided by their own since of doctrine, giving rise toward division. This is in part due to an absence of interpretation when debating doctrine. Kapic writes that, “God’s knowledge of Himself is pure and full, while our knowledge of him is derivative and incomplete” (pp. 32).

Mark 16:15 states, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (NIV). When persons of other devout religious backgrounds ask, what is your belief? My response is, I am neither Baptist nor Pentecostal but simply a believer and follower of Christ. Whether Christian or non-Christian are we not all believers or followers of something? What is it that makes us one? I speak as Christian. Simply our connection in Christ. We are divided by our lack of understanding of the scripture. One believes salvation is evident only if there are evidences of a known language, not truly understanding that salvation and our redemption lies only in our confession and belief in Jesus. Others believe we are reconciled and forgiven only if baptism is recited “In the name of Jesus”.
