Julius caesar is the tragic hero because he is one of the head leaders who every citizen likes. Julius has a flaw of arrogance and ambition. He realised this was his flaw when he got killed by the people who he thought he could trust. This is what makes julius caesar the tragic hero. Creon, Julius Caesar, and Okonkwo all had some type of tragic flaw. Creon had a flaw of bitterness, Julius had a flow of arrogance and ambition, and Okonkwo had a flaw of being afraid of weakness. These three men were tragic heroes with tragic events with reversal of fortune. Creon's reversal of fortune is Antigone, Haemon, and his wife died witch made him want to die to. The fact that Creon has to make difficult moral choices makes this Greek drama a tragedy. A tragedy is “a tale of a central character who [is] admirable but not flawless, who [is] confronted by hostile forces, who [has] to make difficult moral choices, and whose struggle always ends in defeat or death” (Willocks). Every tragedy has a central character that meets the requirements of a tragic hero. In this tragedy Creon shows many qualities of a tragic hero because he makes an error in judgement, he experiences a reversal of fortune, he discovers that his fate is brought about by his own actions, he expresses extreme pride, and his final fate is greater than deserved.…

After reading the tragic story of Antigone, King Creon and Antigone had gone through many experiences that had caused them to become tragic heroes, but I believe that the greatest tragic hero of the two would be Creon. Creon is the most appropriate example of a tragic hero because he followed all of the examples of the tragic hero archetype and remained the most consistent throughout the entire story, despite what challenges he was faced with. As the saying goes, “consistency is key,” I feel as if this applies to the characteristics of a tragic hero, even if this consistency is the cause of his downfall. During the story of Antigone, immediately after Creon was given the throne, Creon displayed the trait of being very strong-minded while…

Many Greek plays have a tragic hero, and Sophocles's Antigone is no exception. Aristotle believes a tragic hero is a man that is not too good but also not too bad, is lifelike, is appropriate, is consistent, and who “does not fall into misfortune through vice or depravity, but falls because of some mistake” (On Tragic Character, 1145). Creon, the new king of Thebes, is the tragic hero in Antigone because he fulfills the four main characteristics of a tragic character, and he makes a fatal mistake that directly leads to his downfall. Creon fits Aristotle’s mold for what a tragic hero should be in a Greek tragedy because he fulfills the four characteristics Aristotle says a character must have to be a tragic hero.…
