Before Ian and Toula met, Toula experienced assimilation. Her family is native to Greece and they moved to North America. Over the years they picked up several different habits that Americans had, from the way the spoke to the way they walked. Toula attended Greek school, she was taught how to ‘live Greek’, meaning she learned how to speak and write in Greek, and she learned all about her native culture.
