Class of 2022, it has been a wonderful three quarters. Remember at the beginning of the year, when we all had the Big Bear trip? Then, everyone was “stiff,” but now, we’re all settled into our daily middle school routine, and many events have passed already. Period 5 English, can you recall us realizing that everyone in The Giver was on drugs? Well, our class was pretty chaotic, and Ms. Gershenhorn had to bribe us to be quiet with the possibility of her doing the dab.…
So like we have to understand there was about a quarter of the amount of spaniards as there were Aztecs. Yeah so the Spaniards were more technologically advanced and ish like they had more, well they had guns, which the Aztecs didn’t… then they also had trained animals such as horses and dogs, and again the aztecs didn’t… Also the spaniards had big ass ships. All of these three weapons scared the Aztecs, adding the element of fear and surprise. They also hit the fucking jackpot when it came to luck like man, they managed to arrive at the same time as a Aztec god was supposed to like damnnn.…
She would have a piece of paper with the child’s name on it in a tracing form. She would lay all the paper on the carpet and ask the children “can you find your name on the carpet”. When each child would find their name, she then would say “class go find your popcorn box and get your crayons and scissors”. The children would sit down and trace their names with…
The principal demanded to see her purse, and upon searching it found marijuana and other…
Latin Americans Latinos are referenced to a culture of individuals that live in the United States. This culture of people is made up of ancestry from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Central and or South America where their primary language is Spanish (Sue & Sue, 2013). Observations: Students were allowed to wear a hat to class if they had paid a dollar. Usually this is not allowed in class. They seemed pretty excited over allowed to wear a hat in the classroom. When the students finally settled in to the classroom, Mrs. Geisheimer gave the students a Do Now. The way she described the assignment was confusing because she told the students to do the right side of the page, but when showing the class the paper, she was pointing to the left side of the page.…
A tradition in my family on thanksgiving, new years and Christmas eve would be my dad cooking pork for the family to eat. The recipe was taught to him by my paternal grandfather. Being Hispanic is a topic that comes up everyday of my life. For example, in scholarship applications, college applications, AP exam days. The questions is always there, “Are you Hispanic/Latino?”…
Because of the upcoming science STTAR, my observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s fifth grade class this week was a little different than usual. The teachers switched classes from lunch until one thirty to better prepare the students for the test. In this way, they would learn the information through different teaching styles. This week’s task was about advice on the teaching profession. Some good advice was to stay organized and keep the students engaged.…
Introduction With one Educational Studies course and a positive field placement experience completed, I believed that I was ready for anything that Child Study and Assessment could throw at me. This field placement, however, is much different than I anticipated. My responsibilities for this field placement are two-fold. Most importantly, as aforementioned, I am to supplement my student, Michael’s [pseudonym], learning by bringing activities that interested him.…
The older classman throw them at each other when no teacher is looking. After they throw them, Cheez-It crumbs are smashed onto the ground. The students have been bringing their own Cheez-It bags to the cafeteria for a while. But they went to far, November 14 was the worst day with the snack. There was Cheez-It crumbs and bags everywhere.…
This week, I observed a first-grade classroom in which RTI is implemented. The observation was done in another first-grade classroom at the same school. At the period of observing the classroom, there were 18 students present. According to my host teacher, 20 students are enrolled in her class. There were 12 girls and 8 boys in the classroom.…
On November 28, 2017, I spent my fourth day with class 3-213 at P.S. 45. During this time, I felt I was able to confidently encounter, converse, and assist the children with varying subject matters. At this point, the children even felt comfortable enough to ask me for help. Additionally, my cooperating teacher, Mrs. Jessica Diaz, is still extremely helpful and even allows me to teach the students in small-groups. By working in small-groups, I have been able to facilitate learning on an individualized level.…
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the elements of effective instruction portrayed in the movie Stand and Deliver. Stand and Deliver is a movie based on the unconventional teaching methods of high school teacher Jaime Escalante. The elements of his particular teaching style discussed within this paper will pertain to educational equity, assessment, engaged learning, differentiated instruction, classroom management, and establishing a learning community. First, depictions of inequity in education will be discussed. Educational equity refers to the pedagogical policies, practices, and programs needed to remove educational difficulties based on national origin, color, disability, age, race/ethnicity, or gender; and impart equal educational…
Students face various social and emotional challenges as they develop and interact with the world around them. Their ability to control their emotions and reactions is dependent on their level of development, surrounding environment, and the skills they have been taught, modeled, and practiced that deal with social and emotional factors (Ed Psych, p 70). During my field experience in my 3rd grade classroom at S.H. Elementary, I have observed Mrs. Branson establish relationships and provide students with the necessary skills needed to develop their emotional competencies. Mrs. Branson teaches 3rd grade in a charter school located in the south suburbs of Minneapolis. Her class consist of 23 diverse student learners from various racial, ethical,…
Being a Teacher My boyfriend’s mom and sister are both teachers and I always say to the both of them “how do you do it?” Never in my wildest dreams would I ever be a teacher at least that is what I thought. Then one day I decided I would sit and watch how my daughters Pre-School class worked.…
