Level V in this article author’s talk about how, registered nurses were conducting preoperative home visits with patients planning joint replacement surgery. The visits were intended to help patients and the families to provide better understanding of what to expect form from the preadmission process to the recovery period. It also insured a safe environment for the recovery process whether at home or at a rehabilitation facility. It was successful in patient and nurse satisfaction. I used this article because it showed great feedback from patients about their preoperative program. Patients had a better understanding of what to expect after surgery and a greater comfort level before, after, and during surgery.
