Evolutionary Arms Race Research Paper

The evolutionary arms race is between two organisms competing to out rank and outlive one another. One example in this video of the evolutionary arms race is between humans and microbes. Humans and microbes are big ones because microbes all everywhere and they can get stronger as time goes on. Microbes get stronger by giving humans medicines they don’t not get sick but better. One microbe that has affected many people is tuberculous (TB). Many Russian prisoners had got TB from other prisoners and they were given drugs to help take care of it but it didn’t work. People kept having the disease comeback because the microbe got stronger because people did not complete their full dose of medicine. Taking this drug will allow you to receive some awful side effects. At the prison they let 30 prisoners try this second drug to see how it would affect them and they all went along with it. However, once any prisoners with the TB leaves the prison they can give the disease to anybody they come in contact with it could of cause a huge epidemic. Another evolutionary arms race is between the rough skin newt and the garter snake. This rough skin newt is extremely poisonous hunters have found out because once a man had ate one and it killed him. Eating this newt can paralyze you and then kill you because poisons seep out of its skin. Edmund Brodie wanted to found out why this newts have become so poisonous, he believes that the newt’s predator the garter snake has made the newt become that way by evolving.
